MBR Finger clip

A biomimicry-inspired medical finger clip that enhances comfort and usability during blood pressure and glucose monitoring through a dual-layer structure and soft silicone material.

一种基于仿生设计的新型医用指夹,通过双层结构与柔性硅胶材料,提升了血糖血压监测时的佩戴舒适性与使用灵活性。

Most traditional finger clips rely on spring-loaded mechanisms that provide sufficient clamping force but often result in discomfort over extended use. Drawing inspiration from biomimicry, I explored alternative structures and materials to improve user experience. The final design features a dual-layer structure: a rigid outer shell for protection and stability, and a soft inner layer made of medical-grade silicone to enhance wearing comfort.

传统指夹多采用弹簧结构,虽能提供必要的压力,却容易造成佩戴时的不适与疲劳。我从仿生学出发,尝试通过结构与材料的革新提升佩戴体验。最终设计出一种由双层结构组成的新型指夹:外层提供固定与保护,内层采用柔软的医用硅胶,有效提升舒适度。

Silicone offers several advantages in medical settings—it is easy to clean, resistant to aging, and more skin-friendly compared to plastics. The inner silicone clips come in various sizes to accommodate different finger diameters, while all can be mounted onto a standardized outer shell. This modularity not only improves patient comfort but also offers healthcare providers greater flexibility.

硅胶材质具备易清洁、不易老化等特性,适合医疗场景。多种尺寸的内层指夹可适配不同手指粗细,并可共用统一的外层结构。这一设计在提升患者佩戴舒适度的同时,也为医护人员带来更灵活的使用方案。

A key challenge of the project was iterative prototyping using 3D printing. By continuously refining the structural form and material properties, such as hardness and elasticity, I was able to arrive at a final design that balances functionality, comfort, and manufacturability.

项目过程中,我通过反复的3D打印打样与结构测试,对材料硬度、形态弹性等因素进行调优,从而实现最终可量产的设计原型。

The accompanying sensor and calibrator were designed as part of an integrated system with the finger clip. Drawing from the same curved language found in the silicone sheath, the three components share a coherent visual identity. This design continuity enhances the perceived value and strengthens the brand presence of otherwise overlooked medical accessories.

与指夹配套使用的传感器与校准器也进行了整体化设计。其造型借鉴了硅胶指套的圆弧语言,与指夹形成统一的视觉延续。这种设计一致性为原本低感存在的医疗附件赋予了更强的价值感与品牌识别度。
